Echo Mountain is Denver’s closest ski area. We are located 50 minutes from downtown Denver, and just 20 minutes west of Evergreen.
On your drive to Echo Mountain, you will enjoy a beautiful Colorado mountain vista around every turn. If you time it right, you can watch the sun set over the divide and see the lights across Idaho Springs, Central City, and the entire front range.
Option 1 (Recommended):
Take Highway 74 south to Highway 103 (aka Squaw Pass Road)
Head west towards Mt. Evans for 12 miles
Take I-70 to Idaho Springs
Head south on Highway 103 past Echo Lake and the Mt. Evans byway
Option 3 (From Downtown Idaho Springs):
Take Litter Bear Creek south to Highway 103
Head west for 2.5 miles
Winter driving in Colorado can be hazardous. Make sure you’re in compliance with CDOT’s recommended travel safety suggestions, including having snow tires, all wheel drive, and tire chains.
Jefferson County, Clear Creek County, and CDOT do a great job of maintaining the roads to Echo, but Mother Nature can move quickly. We want all our guests to be prepared and drive safely.
Check the mountain conditions before your trip for the latest information.
